Good day

It’s been a nice day. Today I saved one goal (crucial for my team to win), and scored two goals in soccer. The teacher seemed really happy, and people were saying that I’ve improved. I really doubt that in one day someone can go from an absolute failure to being an ‘alright’ player. It’s really just circumstance, the goalie wasn’t looking, was afraid of something that was going to happen to him. Regardless, I’m going to try to practice sports more often, maybe try playing with my friends at the gym during lunch instead of reading. I read way too much. I’m currently reading Les Misérables, which is an amazing book but just isn’t the kind of book to get a C-/D+ grade for. The plot is absolutely amazing, and doesn’t just follow Jean Valjean and his life. God I hate that red line underneath ‘Valjean’…There it is again.

I heard that J.K Rowling is writing a new book which is targeted at adults (although that definitely won’t stop me from buying it!). I was extremely excited and have only just calmed down enough and stopped calling and talking to people on Facebook and Skype so that they too can enjoy this magnificent news. I’m honestly really excited, I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and read one of the books at least once or twice every month (I’ve been doing this for about three years) and I went to the Harry Potter premiere and it was just amazing.

Speaking of Harry Potter, I really need to see AVPM. All these people are talking about it on Harry Potter fanpages all the time, I’m going to watch the whole thing tomorrow. I saw the first two parts, and didn’t really like it, but have been advised to, uh, try to ignore the first two parts. The best parts come at the end. Except for “Goin’ Back to Hogwarts!”. That song is amazing.

Various Talks

I’m really bad at gym. Really. I was the goalie today in soccer. Absolutely horrible. My team got two goals, and then I went on and let three in. I feel incredibly stupid. Maybe I should do what Jim Morrison did, and get out of class by saying I have a brain tumor. Or maybe I should just break a leg. No, I shouldn’t.

Some teachers from my school played two sounds today: Roadhouse Blues by The Doors (I think) and Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles. Never mind, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Roadhouse Blues. It was a song by Etta James (R.I.P).

I’ve got this short story project, where I have to pick a story and write about the literary devices used (allusions, onomatopoeia, symbols, hyperbole, oxymoron, etc.) and present it in class. I’m horrible at presenting…almost as bad as I am at gym, actually no, I’m much worse at presenting. I had Geography last semester, and the culminating task was to pick a topic (maybe about the environment) and present about the topic, and if it was a problem, try to solve it or provide adequate solutions. I got 16/40 on my Oral Presentations section, and got 64% on that project. I was alright in everything else. Now, I presented it alright, about half-way only though. After that I made some stuff up, stuttered, and mumbled my way through it, but that’s not the worst part. We were supposed to make a PowerPoint to aid the presentation (which I did) but I was so nervous that I forgot all about the PowerPoint and didn’t move the slides. /facepalm

But, Blur are back! Huge fan. Have all their songs, which are the most played on my iTunes. :D

My average last semester was really bad, I need to get better, and actually try. People always say that I don’t apply to myself, which I think happens to almost every kid at least once or twice when they’re in school. I started of English with 91.6% and got 100% on two assignments but I had some trouble with Art. I can sketch and shade, and draw basic things but had trouble with this exercise on the Elements and Principles of Design. Line, color, balance, stuff like that. I didn’t have gym clothes for the first week of school, and the teacher marks out of 5, and coming to the gym with proper clothes counts for 1/5. Participation 1/5, Leadership 1/5, Sportsmanship (I think) 1/5. I’m probably going to end up in the high 80s for English and Science, and low 80s for Art. Maybe 75-76% for gym. All those years of online games have ruined me…

I’m trying to stay away from online games, Facebook, that stuff because I don’t want to get distracted. Tumblr is fun though, and it’s not the kind of thing that I can get addicted to, so I can balance studies with this perfectly fine.

I played some Assassin’s Creed 2 today, really fun game. I bought it before the summer holidays and at first I didn’t really play it much. I think I got home, put the guy into the Animus and stopped played for about 6 months. But it gets more and more fun the more you go into the game. The story line seems really amazing and Florence looks beautiful.

I’ve got to set the table for dinner now.
